The short version
Change Counter performs its arithmetic inside your browser. Quantities, subtotals, expected drawer figures, count labels and sign off names are not transmitted to us by the calculator. There is no account to create, no login to maintain and no profile built from what you count. If you never press Save count, nothing you type survives closing the tab.
What you type into the calculator
Denomination quantities, the Other cash amount, the expected drawer total, the count label and the optional Counted by, Verified by and date fields exist only in the memory of the page you have open. They are read locally to build totals, variances, the CSV export and the A4 report. Both the export and the printable sheet are assembled on your device by your own browser.
Counts you choose to save
Selecting Save count writes one record to local browser storage on the machine you are using. That record can include the label, the currency code, the denomination quantities, any other cash amount, the expected total, the sign off entries and the calculated result. It is tied to one browser on one device and is never synchronised anywhere else.
You keep full control of that list. Any single entry can be removed from its card, Delete saved counts empties the list completely, and clearing your browser site data removes it as well. Because no copy exists on a server, deletion is final and we have no way to restore an entry for you.
Information the hosting layer sees
Serving any web page involves a request. Our hosting provider may process the limited technical data needed to deliver files securely and keep the site available, typically an IP address, a browser and operating system string, the requested path, a timestamp and error output. That material supports security, reliability and fault finding. It does not carry the note and coin quantities you enter, because those never leave your browser to begin with.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
The published build of Change Counter needs no advertising cookies and no third party analytics to calculate anything. Local browser storage is used only for saved counts and is not a tracking mechanism. Should a future operator introduce measurement or advertising services, this policy must be revised and published before those services go live.
Links to other websites
Some pages reference independent sites such as central bank publications or browser vendors. Once you follow one of those links you are governed by that operator's own practices, which we neither control nor monitor. Read their policy before submitting personal details or financial records anywhere else.
Children
Change Counter is a general purpose utility rather than a service aimed at children, and it asks for no personal information at any point. Whatever your age, avoid placing names, account numbers, addresses or other identifying detail inside a count label, because that text is stored with the saved entry and appears on the printed report.
Your practical choices
Use the calculator without saving anything if you prefer no local footprint at all. Save selectively when you want a short history. Clear the list when a shared machine changes hands. This policy is updated when the website changes, when applicable requirements change, or when the way data is handled changes. The effective date below marks the current published version.
