What this website is
Change Counter is a convenience utility. It multiplies the quantities you enter by the denominations shown beside them and adds the results. Everything published here, including the guide library, is general information written for a wide audience. None of it constitutes financial, accounting, tax, banking, audit or legal advice for your situation.
The count itself is yours
Software cannot see your table. Two notes stuck together, a stack counted twice, a coin from the wrong currency, a mistyped quantity or an expected balance that still contains card takings will each produce a confident looking total that does not match reality. Read every row back against the physical cash, and follow whatever counting controls your organisation already operates. The drawer counting guide describes a sequence that catches most of these.
Denomination lists change
Issuing authorities introduce, redesign, demonetise and withdraw notes and coins on their own timetable. The sets included here reflect commonly circulating pieces and will not cover every historical series, commemorative issue, collectible or regionally restricted item. Note also that face value has nothing to do with numismatic or exchange value, so a rare coin is worth what a specialist pays for it rather than what this calculator reports.
Business and accounting records
A printed sheet or CSV file from this site is a working document, not an audited statement, a bank receipt or a certified accounting record. Keep your own internal controls, reconcile each payment method separately, and retain whatever official documentation your policies and local law require. Card settlements, cheques, vouchers and electronic transfers should stay out of the cash total unless an approved procedure specifically says otherwise. See cash handling procedures for context.
Availability and technical limits
We aim to keep the calculator working and understandable, but we do not warrant continuous availability, freedom from defects, or compatibility with every browser and device. Saved counts depend on local browser storage and can disappear when site data is cleared, an incognito session ends, storage is full or a device is replaced. Keep independent copies of anything that matters.
Limitation of liability
So far as applicable law permits, the operator of this website accepts no responsibility for shortages, losses, missed or rejected deposits, reporting errors, disciplinary outcomes, business interruption or any other consequence arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on Change Counter. Validating a result before acting on it is your responsibility.
